Thank You for Making Home Range for the Holidays a Success

As we begin 2026, we want to thank you for the support you gave during our Home Range for the Holidays campaign. Because of you, we met our year-end goal and are entering the new year on strong footing. That support directly sustains our teams, our programs, and the cheetahs in our care, and it allows us to move into the year ahead with stability and focus.

In 2026, we mark ten years since Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) began supporting the efforts of the Government of Somaliland by directly caring for the cheetahs confiscated from the illegal wildlife/pet trade.

In 2016, Somaliland passed a law making it illegal to transport cheetahs out of the country to help stop the supply side of the exotic pet market decimating the population of wild cheetahs across the Horn of Africa. Thanks to our supporters over the past decade, we’ve focused on cheetah conservation, education, and capacity building in Somaliland and our programs have grown with our Education Centre being completed last year.

Recently, the new Education and Training Complex in Somaliland hosted its first training group. Held in late December, the session brought together local health professionals, including two veterinarians, a public health student, and several nutritionists. The training focused on CCF’s conservation work, the importance of protecting wild cheetahs, the impact of the illegal wildlife trade, and basic animal rescue techniques. Located at the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre in Geed-Deeble, the Education and Training Complex was completed in 2025 with support from the Royal Commission for AlUla. Designed to respond to Somaliland’s extreme heat and strong winds, the 15,000-square-foot facility incorporates climate-resilient design and passive cooling systems. It will serve as a regional hub for conservation education and hands-on training in the Horn of Africa.

Our Commitments for 2026

In the year ahead, CCF will continue to focus on steady, collaborative conservation work. In 2026, we will:

  • Working alongside communities and governments to reduce conflict and prevent the removal of cheetahs from the wild
  • Maintaining high standards of veterinary care and management for rescued and confiscated cheetahs
  • Expanding education and training programs that build conservation capacity across the cheetah’s range
  • Using field-based research to guide practical, on-the-ground conservation decisions
  • Strengthening collaboration across regions to address shared conservation challenges

See Your Support in Action

As we move forward, we want you to see the impact of what you help make possible. Some supporters choose to visit us in Namibia to experience conservation work firsthand. Others volunteer their time or stay connected by subscribing to our field updates, research, and education program reports via email. Supporters can enjoy regular day-to-day updates from staff working directly in the field by following our social media @ccfcheetah on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube and Pinterest.

However you choose to engage, your support helps turn our commitment to the cheetah into daily action which creates real progress for the species and its landscape. Thank you for standing with us and for helping carry this work into the next chapter.
