Platveld Farmer Association Meets at CCF

On 11th of November 2017 the Platveld Farmer Association, one of the two farmer associations that CCF is a member of, held their year-end meeting and annual general meeting (AGM) at the Cheetah Conservation Fund. Dr. Chris Brown, the CEO of the Namibian Chamber of the Environment, opened the AGM with a talk about the importance of Namibian Conservancies and how farmers will need to plan ahead as the effects of climate change will affect the grazing and livestock industry.

The AGM was attended by about 20 farmers (along with families) from Otjiwarongo and surroundings, and a tour through CCF’s Research & Education Center and Model Farm, was part of the day, as well as watching the cheetah feeding. CCF was very glad to host the AGM to strengthen the relationship with the farmers on whose land the cheetahs are living. CCF has been working with farmers all over Namibia for nearly 30 years to help reduce the human-wildlife conflict through sharing predator-friendly livestock management techniques. In the evening farming association members invited CCF staff for a BBQ to end a successful day.
