You’re invited! Join Cal Poly International Center for an inspiring talk with world-renowned conservationist Dr. Laurie Marker as she shares a powerful look at the global effort to save one of Africa’s most iconic — and endangered — species: the cheetah.
Drawing on decades of groundbreaking work, Dr. Marker will explore how science, community partnerships and sustainable innovation are transforming wildlife conservation. From cutting-edge genetics research to livestock guardian dog programs and the pioneering Bushblok enterprise — a project to improve cheetah habitats by removing invasive thorn species — discover how protecting wildlife can also support and strengthen human livelihoods. Her approach highlights a powerful truth: the futures of wildlife, ecosystems and people are deeply connected.
