National Goat Conference, Langston University

Dr. Laurie Marker presents on how Cheetah Conservation Fund uses dairy goats in its conservation work. Small livestock sit at the heart of CCF’s Livestock Guarding Dog program, in which dogs raised alongside goat herds protect them from predators, safeguarding both farmer livelihoods and wild cheetahs. Dr. Marker’s history with goats predates CCF itself: she served on the board of the National Pygmy Goat Association and judged the breed nationally for over a decade. Presented as part of the 2026 National Goat Conference hosted by Langston University’s Sherman Lewis School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
