CCF’s Brian Badger Tours Colorado
- by Dionne Stein August 7, 2018
This summer, Brian Badger, CCF’s Director of Conservation and Outreach, traveled to Colorado for a 10-day education and fundraising tour. Brian’s first presentation was at the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation (PSSWF) where he focused his talk on big cats and the conservation issues faced by the cheetah. He gave similar conservation-focused presentations in five other Colorado cities: Snowmass Village, Aspen, Denver, Wheat Ridge, & Littleton.
Brian’s engaging humorous and educational talks about big cats places emphasis on holistic conservation; CCF’s successful strategy for saving the cheetah relies on positive engagement with the human communities that live alongside predators. As always, Brian’s presentations were as entertaining as they were educational.
In June, at the AREDAY Summit held by the American Renewable Energy Institute (AREI), Brian was invited to serve as a panelist in a conversation moderated by Corey Lockman, Program Director for Wildlife Protection Solutions. The conversation entitled Wildlife Protection Strategies: Spinning in the Web of Life included Brian and three other panelists: Paul Watson, CEO and Founder of Sea Shepherd, Will Roush, Conservation Director of Wilderness Workshop, and Eli Weiss, host of Our Wild World and Founder and President of Wildize!.
The panelists covered current conservation topics including: marine wildlife conservation, education, security and environmental ethics, earthjustice, ecojustice, and anti-poaching efforts. Brian spoke extensively about CCF’s holistic conservation efforts and how CCF’s efforts in Africa are helping save wildlife and promote sustainability.
Following the AREDAY Summit, Brian attended the Running Wild 5K and Fun Run held at Regis University. The race is an annual fundraising effort to help prevent the extinction of endangered African wildlife. The morning of the race, Brian Badger did a presentation about CCF’s Livestock Guarding Dog program with the help of two local ambassador Kangal dogs, representative of the dogs CCF uses in Namibia.
The last stop on Brian’s Colorado tour was Cheesecake for Cheetahs, a fundraising event organized by the Katie Adamson Conservation Fund.
