The Next Generation of Wildlife Managers

In April 2021, Brian Badger, CCF’s Director of Conservation and Outreach, was a guest speaker for students in the Environmental and Wildlife Management Program at Vanier College in Montreal. The program will produce the next generation of wildlife managers.
Brandee Diner, Educational Educator and Program Coordinator of the College’s Program, chaired this very lively session designed specifically for students pursuing careers in conservation.
The discussion and Q&A’s ranged from the unique challenges of cheetah conservation to the kinds of skills and experience that are essential in wildlife management. Thanks, Brian and Brandee!
Vanier College is connected to the internship program at the CCF Centre in Namibia. Just recently, two of their students benefited from this program in January-February 2020, and one of them wrote a blog post about her internship experience for us following her placement there.
While the internship program is now paused due to the COVID-19 lockdown, it should resume in 2022.
Our thanks to Alena Perout (Dean, Faculty of Arts, Business, and Social Sciences and International Education, Vanier College) who is a great supporter of Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada. Recently, Alena and her partner Jonathan Peck also gifted CCF with something special – read about that here.)
