Cheetah speed: Wilmington Grammar School teams triumph in regional F1 challenge

Imagine combining your love for cars and cheetahs into just one competition — this is exactly what a group of 11 students from Wilmington Grammar School for Boys did at the Regional F1 Schools Competition in Canterbury. The 11 students comprised two different teams: Cheetah Motorsports and Hyperdrift, and they spent a whole year preparing for the event. Can you guess which team won the competition?

As part of the competition, the students from Wilmington Grammar School had to design and manufacture a car to compete with teams from other schools. They also prepared a printed pit display explaining their brand identity, design, and manufacture of the car, as well as the process they underwent as a team. Additionally, they were responsible for raising the money to cover all the costs associated with their participation in the event — putting their effort and the speed of their car to the test.

The students also prepared a presentation for a panel of judges and answered questions about the process they underwent and various aspects of their cars. At the end of the Regional F1 Schools Competition, Wilmington Grange School had one of their teams on the podium: Cheetah Motorsports!

Cheetah Motorsports came in second, and they will participate in the National Finals in March this year. The team has already begun working on improvements and is very excited to travel to Rotherham for the two-day competition.
