15 Days of Fitness for a Critical Cause:  Caring for rescued cheetah cubs from the illegal wildlife/pet trade.

Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 and all of those funds will be sent to Cheetah Conservation Fund in Somaliland where the CCF Team is caring for 90+ cheetahs rescued from the illegal pet trade.

Here’s how to participate:

  1. Register as an individual or as a team. $30 per person for adults, $15 for youth.
  2. Choose any fitness goal to complete during the event (run, walk, golf, bike – you decide!)
  3. Ask family, colleagues and friends to join you on a team, or to sponsor you.
  4. Share your progress and accomplishments on social media using #CheetahFit2022. Camera shy participants can download and use our fun cheetah mask (Adult, Youth).
  5. Have fun!

More About CCF & the Illegal Pet Trade

In 2019, CCF opened a facility in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, to house and care for cheetah cubs that had been rescued from poachers.  It’s a good news/bad news story:  good in that the Somaliland government is working hard to crack down on the illegal pet trade and that cheetahs are being rescued, however the bad news is that there seems to be a never-ending flow of trafficked cheetahs through Somaliland.

When the rescued cheetah cubs arrive at the CCF safehouse, many are in dire straits and in need of critical emergency care. If they survive the next 48 hours – and many do not, sadly – then CCF then provides ongoing permanent care.

Under the leadership of Dr. Marker and the team at CCF in Somaliland, more than 90 cheetah are now housed and cared for in that facility. All donations received from the Cheetah Fit Challenge 2022 will be used to offset the cheetah care costs at the expanding facility.
