How I spent Earth Day 2026

On April 22, 2026, I received a warm welcome to the Cheetah Conservation Fund Centre. It was apt that in Canada we celebrate this day as Earth Day, a day to reflect on environmental progress and a celebration of our natural world. At CCF, I was blown away by the different initiatives from community education – like the model farm– to sustainable activities like their BushBlok project.
What truly made my visit special was the passion that emanated from their staff and their dedication to conservation, education, and wildlife. One of the highlights of my short stay was the Livestock Guarding Program, which reminds us how essential community involvement is to wildlife rescue. I was also impressed with the facilities from their clinic to their creamery, it was obvious that much thought, time, and hard work had gone into their planning and that CCF was proactive in their continuous development of their center.
Vanier College values their partnership with CCF and every year sends Animal Health Technology interns to complete their hands-on training components. The depth of learning is incredible and provides students with an opportunity to work with mammals unique to this region. I feel privileged to have visited CCF for a short period of time and hopes to collaborate more in the future.
