Last week, the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) education department successfully completed a two-day conservation education outreach program in Otjiwarongo, visiting a total of 10 schools, which included 6 high schools and 5 primary schools. This initiative is crucial in cultivating the understanding among youth about the importance of protecting their environment, including its wildlife.
During the outreach, students and teachers engaged in cheetah conservation activities designed to raise awareness about the threats faced by endangered species. This program seeks to transform traditional views of dominance over nature into a more eco-centric perspective, fostering national pride in the conservation of Namibia’s ecosystems and recognizing the value of natural resources for local communities.
The educational sessions covered essential topics such as Namibian predator identification, the ecological and physiological characteristics of cheetahs, and the challenges of human-cheetah conflict. By participating in these discussions, students are encouraged to appreciate the significance of wildlife conservation, particularly for cheetahs.
In 2024 alone, CCF has reached 71 schools, impacting a total of 22,435 students and 493 teachers through its educational outreach programs.
We invite you to consider supporting CCF’s school outreach initiatives, ensuring that young people learn about biodiversity, its critical importance, and how they can actively contribute to conservation efforts. Your support can help plant the seeds of environmental stewardship in the next generation!
