Reaching More Canadians
Our Canadian supporters understand the importance of saving biodiversity at home and abroad. In 2022, we grew our support to Cheetah Conservation Fund to support cheetah conservation programs in Namibia, Somaliland and Kenya.
In this blog post, we’ll explain what we did, and how these funds will be used by CCF, below…read on.
We thank all of our donors and key supporters – new and repeat – for their valued involvement and support.
Key Awareness and Fundraising Efforts in 2022:
- Annual General Meeting & Town Hall featuring key representatives from Vanier College in Montreal, QC
- Our online Silent Auction in June raised more than $3K
- A new volunteer committee helped us to organize the 2nd Annual Cheetah Fit Challenge which grew significantly to 15 teams, 60 participants, and nearly $25,000 in donations.
- Toronto Zoo volunteers participated in an excellent Zoom call with Dr. Ashley Marshall and Nathalie Santerre, two Canadians who volunteered at CCF Somaliland in 2022
- In lieu of an in-person visit to Canada, we held a conference call with Dr. Laurie Marker in the fall.
- A new Emergency Fund for Medical Supplies for Somaliland was established, raising approx. $4K in one month
- A successful year-end giving email campaign raised another $11K
How CCF Will Use These Funds:
- $50,000 – Research programs to restore wildlife/livestock balance in the rural lands of Namibia (Sponsored by B2Gold)
- $36,000 – Cheetah Care in Somaliland
- $25,000 – Cheetah Care in Namibia
- $20,000 – Future Farmers of Africa
- $16,560 – To support the Mara-Meru Cheetah Project in Kenya through field research, conservation and community education
- $12,000 – Rebuilding of the Species Survival Pens, a 4 hectare area at CCF Namibia (Sponsored by the Gordon and Patricia Gray Animal Welfare Foundation)
- $10,000 – Livestock Guarding Dog Program
- $10,000 – Future Conservationists of Africa Program
That’s tremendous support from Canadians! We thank you all once again, and look forward to your continued support in 2023.
