Adopt a Goat

Around 25% of all of Africa’s cheetahs live in Namibia.  Here they survive alongside humans, most of which belong to commercial and communal farming communities raising cows, sheep, and goats.

To communal and rural farmers, the loss of even a single goat can be devastating. Cheetahs and other predators are commonly viewed as a threat to the livelihoods of the farming community. During the 1980s, livestock and game farmers halved the cheetah population in Namibia.

To protect wild cheetahs, CCF works with farmers to investigate, develop, and implement predator-friendly livestock and wildlife management techniques. And over the years we have implemented multiple programmes to benefit local communities, farmers, livestock such as goats, and the wild cheetahs they live alongside

Adopt a goat, for as little as £3 per month, and help deliver and grow our community programmes. Whether it is supporting local farmers, educating communities, responding to human-wildlife conflict situations, or empowering locals through our model farm and goat creamery, your goat adoption will do amazing things to protect wild cheetahs.

What’s included in my goat adoption?
As a livestock guarding dog adopter, not only will you be funding vital conservation work, but you will also receive an exclusive CCF UK adoption pack, including a species factsheet, glossy photo, and plush goat toy. You will also be added to our update list keeping you informed on how your support is making a difference to cheetahs in the wild.

If you’d prefer not to set up a direct debit you can make a one-off payment of just £36 to receive an adoption pack, offering a full year of support.

How your goat adoption will help
CCF’s work, which is only possibly thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, continues to provide hope for wild cheetah populations. Your adoption will help by:

• Caring for our Goat Herd based at our Model Farm at CCF Namibia. This Model Farm provides the model blueprint for farmers to better understand how to take care of their goat herds and to produce goat milk products as an alternative food source and livelihood. The goats also play an important role in training Livestock Guarding Dog (LGD) puppies.
• Mitigating Human Wildlife Conflict (HWC) through our Future Farmers of Africa (FFA) programme, where we proactively train farmers on predator-friendly livestock management techniques to effectively protect their goat herds.
• Supporting the production of goat milk products made at our CCF Dancing Goat Creamery on our Model Farm. Through this initiative CCF is able to demonstrate how local farmers can build sustainable livelihoods.
