CCF UK seeks Public Relations volunteer to amplify conservation efforts

The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), founded by Dr Laurie Marker in Namibia in 1990, stands as the world’s leading organisation dedicated to saving cheetahs in the wild. With its headquarters in Namibia and an international affiliate network, including the Cheetah Conservation Fund UK (CCF UK), this global initiative works tirelessly to secure a future for cheetahs and all who share their landscape, including humans.

In an exciting development, CCF UK is now offering a unique volunteer opportunity for a PR enthusiast passionate about wildlife conservation. This role presents a chance to contribute significantly to cheetah conservation efforts while gaining valuable experience in the non-profit sector.

  • Develop UK-relevant press releases from global topics and social media stories.
  • Build and maintain media contact lists for targeted outreach.
  • Establish relationships with journalists and publications, pitching press releases.
  • Utilise various tools to monitor and analyse campaign performance, providing reports to staff and trustees.
  • Conduct research on audiences, competitors, and charity landscapes to identify new marketing channels and PR opportunities.
  • Generate ideas for new stories and topics.
  • Support publicity efforts and assist with events and campaigns throughout the year.

Desired skills and qualities

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Previous experience in PR across conservation, charitable, corporate, or other fields.

• Strong communication, IT, organisational, problem-solving, presentation, and analytical skills.

• Attention to detail, teamwork abilities, creativity, and initiative.

Learning and growth opportunities

This role offers numerous opportunities for personal and professional development:

  • Gain insights into the workings of a small charitable organisation.
  • Measure and report on the direct impact of PR campaigns on key activities such as donations, adoptions, and merchandise sales.
  • Develop a deep understanding of conservation approaches and CCF’s holistic programmes in Africa and globally.
  • Collaborate with and learn from experienced fundraising, marketing, and conservation professionals worldwide.
  • Build relationships and networks within the conservation PR and media community.

By joining CCF UK, volunteers become part of a small but passionate team in the UK and the broader CCF international affiliate family. This role provides a unique chance to contribute to wildlife conservation while honing valuable PR skills in a supportive environment.
