Livestock guarding dogs are remarkable
Livestock guarding dogs help reduce human-wildlife conflict (HWC) and save wild cheetahs. These remarkable dogs protect farmers’ livestock and livelihoods, stopping them from killing cheetahs. Results are impressive – 80% reduction in incidences of HWC, where our canine heroes are deployed.
This non-lethal predator control method has helped farmers to understand that humans and wildlife can co-exist. The programme is so successful that there is a three-year waiting list, meaning every new puppy born is very important to CCF, the communities we support and to cheetah conservation.
Conservation canine competition
October 18th to November 1st
On July 10th, Lisboa Bella, a 2-year-old breeding livestock guarding dog, gave birth to 8 beautiful puppies at CCF HQ. One female puppy is still to be named. This is where you come in…
Can you think of a fitting, UK-themed name for our latest power pup? If so, enter your name suggestion/s and make your donation, between 18th and 28th October (£20 per name).
We’ll draw three finalists and share on social media so you can vote for your favourite on Facebook and Instagram. The winning name will be announced on November 1st!
Every £500 raised through the puppy naming competition, will enable CCF – and Geb – to place and care for one livestock guarding dog for an entire year. Plus, how ‘pawsome’ it will be to follow the UK pup as she has her own litters of cheetah-champions!
