Education is at the heart of CCF’s mission to secure a future for the cheetah. Through our Future Conservationists of Africa (FCA) and Future Farmers of Africa (FFA) programmes, we are equipping the next generation of Namibians – from school children to farmers – with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to live alongside wildlife.
Since the FCA programme began in 1994, it has reached more than 800,000 students across Namibia and beyond. Many of these young people have gone on to become conservationists, veterinarians, educators, and policymakers, some working directly with CCF.
The results from CCF’s Future Conservationists of Africa (FCA) programme show clear signs of positive impact and real behaviour change among participating students and teachers:
- In 2025, 13,076 students and 347 teachers from 65 schools have taken part in the FCA programme — steady growth that reflects the success of CCF’s outreach and partnerships in reaching new communities.
- 82% of students said they are now inspired to pursue a career in conservation after taking part.
- Understanding of human–wildlife conflict increased dramatically — from 25% before the workshop to 75% afterwards.
- 100% of teachers who completed post-workshop surveys committed to using CCF’s Teacher Resource Guide and applying what they learned in their classrooms.
- The majority of learners (64%) were aged 17–19, a crucial age for shaping future career choices.
- 54% of participants were female, demonstrating strong engagement from young women in conservation.
