“We always think there is someone else who will do something, that ‘they’ will take care of it. I realized early in my work that there is no ‘they,’ and so I decided that I would take action to save the cheetah from extinction.” – Dr. Laurie Marker, Founder and Executive Director, CCF

Let’s follow Dr. Marker’s mission and take action for the cheetah!

How it Works!

Cheetah Fit is a virtual fitness and fundraiser supporting cheetah conservation and coexistence programs in Africa. Participants walk, jog, run, or bike while raising funds to protect the fastest and most endangered big cat in Africa.  In honour of our Livestock Guarding Dog Program at CCF, bring your dog along for the fitness challenge.  #DogsSavingCats

Want to Collaborate with Us

Collaboration can take many forms:

  • A “Cheetah-Themed Run” (e.g. wearing orange/black or cheetah print)
  • Friendly internal competition (e.g., team vs. team)
  • Distance or speed challenges inspired by cheetah facts (e.g.  1/2 a daily Cheetah Walk – based on a cheetah’s daily walking range of 10–20 km depending of environment, climate and prey base).
  • For a working livestock guarding dog, their average daily walk is 8-15 km.  Most of their movement is slow, steady walking, circling, and patrolling with livestock—not running.
