Inspiring Visit to CCF Namibia

Recently, we had a great opportunity to visit the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) in Namibia, where we reconnected with longstanding friends and made new connections with the CCF teams. This trip provided invaluable insights into the inner workings of the many programs supported by our generous Canadian donors, including innovative genetics research and vital ecology studies.

From meetings with  program managers to shadowing teams in the field, we saw first-hand how CCF is tackling key challenges: from providing veterinary care to rescued cheetahs to training local communities in effective predator-friendly farming techniques. We were able to see how our Canadian contributions have directly funded essential projects and the ongoing care of cheetahs and livestock guarding dogs.

We were also pleased to meet Kayla Schmitz, a Canadian staff member who first joined CCF as an intern after learning about the organization through a connection with former CCF cheetah keeper (now International Studbook manager)  Becky Johnston.

Touring facilities like the Dancing Goat Creamery, watching the incredible work of scat detection dogs, and visiting the model farm where Livestock Guarding Dogs are trained, we were very impressed by the dedication and expertise of the CCF teams. Our time at CCF Namibia has given us lots of compelling stories and insights to share with you—our fellow conservation champions—to inspire ongoing support for this extraordinary organization and its vital work.
