In Memory of Arkadi Bykhovsky: A Dedicated Advocate for Cheetah Conservation

So many of our supporters in Canada are motivated by their longtime passion for helping animals, especially wildlife like cheetahs. It’s always a great pleasure to discover why our supporters from across Canada care so much about saving the cheetah.

Arkadi Bykhovsky and his wife Eva have been very dedicated supporters of Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada and CCF’s work with cheetahs for a number of years. I had quite a few lovely conversations with Arkadi over time and was always impressed with his considerable awareness about conservation, the challenges facing the cheetah itself, and his passion for helping animals. Sadly, Arkadi passed away this fall in his 81st year.

Arkadi’s held a number of senior executive positions in the forest products industry, working across Europe and Canada, in senior positions in manufacturing, marketing and strategic planning. These experiences gave him a chance to see a lot of the world. Amongst their philanthropic interests were Cheetah Conservation Fund as well as the Animal Protection Foundation dog shelter in Cairo, Egypt. Arkadi and Eva adopted their rescued German Shepherd several years ago and Jamal has been a beloved part of the family.

Arkadi was a big supporter of our four annual Cheetah Fit Challenges, as well as a sponsor of Khaleesi at CCF since she was a young cheetah. He will be much missed by all who knew him.
