The Power of Your Support: Transforming Animal Care with Blood Analysis Equipment
Panduleni Andreas, Vet tech., showing the type of blood tests possible.

In 2023, we received a $15,000 donation from the Alan and Patricia Koval Foundation in Canada to help us purchase IDEXX Blood Analyzer equipment for the  CCF Clinic in Namibia.  This equipment allows the Vet team to analyze blood samples, providing information on various blood parameters to help veterinarians diagnose and monitor animal health, all while the animal is still in the clinic.

The new Blood Analyzer equipment arrived in February  2024 at CCF.  This innovative technology has revolutionized CCF’s veterinary care by providing immediate, in-house blood analysis — drastically improving treatment response times.

In 2024 alone, CCF processed 187 samples, and so far this year, CCF has already exceeded 247 samples. These numbers represent vital blood tests—sometimes multiple test conducted on  same animal over time, or several tests at same time like hematocrit, biochemistry, urinalysis, or SDMA from a single blood draw. Each result contributes to better diagnosis and faster treatment.

Thanks to these machines, animals are now receiving prompt care during anesthesia, with many starting treatments immediately after blood results. This immediate response has significantly increased the quality of care, reduced delays, and improved animal outcomes.

Since their arrival in 2024, we have analyzed a total of 434 animals — all thanks to the Koval Foundation’s support. While we cannot precisely quantify how many lives have been saved, we can confidently say that animals now receive much faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment than ever before. Before, CCF’s clinic had to send samples to the local laboratory, which took 1-3 days just to get it delivered, and then results would take another 2–3 weeks to arrive back at CCF. This made any medical decision and prompt treatment very tricky and delayed.

This is an example of the real impact of your donations — safer animals, healthier lives, and a clinic that can provide essential care in real-time.

Thank you for helping us make a difference.
