Earlier this year, Canada lost a great philanthropist and advocate for wildlife conservation, animal welfare and the protection of endangered species. Gordon Gray passed away in May 2024 in his 96th year.
Gordon and his wife Patricia established the Gordon and Patricia Gray Animal Welfare Foundation in 2010, with the aim of turning their passion for nature and wildlife and their ardent philanthropy into meaningful results for over 65 Canadian and international wildlife charities.
Cheetah Conservation Fund is grateful for the financial support that the Foundation has provided for the past seven years. This vital support has included funding to enlarge the cheetah pens at CCF to meet the new standards set by Namibian authorities; funding to rebuild the Species Survival/Raleigh Pens encompassing four hectares; funding for the construction of a cabin at the Lightfoot Wilderness Camp where students and instructors stay for multi-day immersive experiences at CCF Centre in Namibia ; printing of an educational guide for the Future Farmers of Africa program; and the care of cheetahs.
Gordon was a highly respected business leader in Toronto, Canada and was keenly aware of the importance of being a leader in the community as well. He played a key role in the development of the downtown core of Toronto and was actively involved in many Toronto area charitable organizations. A life-long appreciation for the natural world and its diverse species was reflected in his post-retirement commitment to helping protect many species around the globe. Beloved by family, friends and countless colleagues, he will be much missed.
The Cheetah Conservation Fund organization is grateful for Gordon Gray’s great generosity in support of our mission to save the cheetah in the wild.
