An FSC Story – Saving the Cheetah
Bush thinning using machine harvester.

CCF journey in habitat restoration started in 2001 with the help of a small USAID grant where CCF created a Namibian Company, CCF Bush (Pty) Ltd to produce Bushblok, an award‐winning low‐emission, high‐heat fuel log, from the harvested bush biomass.  In 2006, CCF obtained a certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)™, confirming that all of the harvest operations are environmentally certifiable and that the forest resources are managed responsibly and sustainably.  After ten year, CCF was able to demonstrate proof of concept with the manufacturing of fuel log and market receptivity.  In 2017, CCF relocated and expanded the plant at their Centre and added new technologies for biomass application hence creating the Biomass Demonstration Technical Centre (BDTC) which funding coming European sources. The Biomass Association of Namibia holds regular event at the BDTC, showcasing technologies and providing entrepreneurs and farmers new opportunities.

Saving the cheetah entail a broad view covering environment, social and economic solutions.
