Supporting Employees’ Passion In Making a Difference!

Some of the best companies in the world know that their employees put a high premium on making a difference in their respective communities. When employers support these efforts, this can be an important factor in finding and keeping the best employees, and demonstrating that the company cares about the communities in which they operate.
One such company is Avast, a global cyber-security company, headquartered in the Czech Republic. The company has more than 1400 software employees wordwide. The Avast Foundation, established in 2010, is primarily focused on the support of NGOs within the Czech Republic. It focuses on the development of palliative care and other important topics. By 2016, the Foundation became global, supporting projects nominated by its employees in countries where Avast has offices. In Ottawa, Avast’s Patrick Gorman, a senior manager in technical support nominated Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada as the community organization for support. Patrick wants to ensure that big cats such as the cheetah never go extinct. The support of the Avast Foundation will contribute to the successful livestock guarding dog program, helping to save cheetahs by reducing human-wildlife conflict.
The Foundation also supports the interests of its employees in volunteering on projects, which can help bring skills and expertise to the community organizations that have been selected for support.
The CEO of Avast, Mr. Vince Steckler, notes, “We have gained strength through the devotion of our global community. The Avast Foundation is a way of giving back, both by supporting beneficial causes and through the expertise from our employee base.”
Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada greatly appreciates the support of the Avast Foundation and Patrick’s passion for the cheetahs.
We encourage our supporters to find out if their companies have similar employee-driven programs that can help make a tangible difference to saving the cheetah in the wild.
