World Premiere screening of Born to Explore’s Namibia: Land of the Cheetah
September 27 @ 6:00 pm
In this one-hour world premiere, Born to Explore travels to Namibia for an in-depth look at the most endangered cat in Africa – the cheetah. Explorer Richard Wiese discovers why Namibia is known as the cheetah capital of the world. He meets Dr. Laurie Marker, founder of the Cheetah Conservation Fund to see what’s being done to save these cats from extinction. Loss of habitat, human-wildlife conflict and the illegal wildlife trade have impacted cheetah populations worldwide and there are now less than 8,000 left in the wild.
Presented by WGBH-Boston and airing on PBS stations nationwide in October.
Featuring special guests Dr. Laurie Marker of Cheetah Conservation Fund, Explorers Club President and host of Born to Explore Richard Wiese, along with the production team of Born to Explore.
