Christy Bidstrup

In her professional life, Christy recently retired from the United States Mint as an Assistant Director, after almost 25 years of federal service. Prior to her work at the US Mint, she worked as Delegation Director at the African-American Institute in Nairobi, Kenya, and as a Precious Metals Trader for Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York, NY, among other positions.

Christy is a graduate of Nordenfjord World University, Thy, Denmark, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. Christy volunteered through Earthwatch at the CCF center in Namibia in 2007, and since then has been active with the DC chapter. In addition to her work with CCF, she has studied meerkats in the Kalahari Desert, tagged nesting leatherback sea turtles in Trinidad, helped with unearthing and conserving the world’s largest aggregation of mammoth bones at the Mammoth Site in South Dakota, and been active for over 30 years on issues pertaining to heritage research, public education, and conservation of Easter Island.
